The Holy Quraan

Allah Subhana wa ta’ala says “We have surely sent down the Qura’an and we will certainly protect it (from corruption).”The Quraan is the final revelation of Allaah Almighty. It was revealed to the Prophet over a period of twenty-three years. Every word of the Quran is protected by Allaah Almighty and no part of it has been changed since the revelation. The purpose of the Quran is to teach men how to obey Allah Almighty, and how to treat and respect the creation of Allaah Almighty. It teaches us how the past nations were destroyed when they refused to obey Allaah Almighty. It teaches us about the everlasting life in the hereafter.

1. The Quran is the most superior book of Allaah Almighty, from amongst all the revealed books.
2. The Quraan canceled the laws of all previously revealed books and all of mankind must now follow the teachings of the Quran.
3. The Quran is the kalaam (direct speech) of Allaah to mankind.
4. The Quran is the only book that will never be changed, lost or destroyed.
5. Allaah Almighty has protected both the words and the meaning of the Quran.
6. The Quran is complete and perfect. It contains the best and only guidance for all times
7. The Quran contains one hundred and fourteen chapters, which have been memorized by millions of people ever since the beginning of revelation.
8. Every word of the Quran had also been written by a number of appointed people, as it was being revealed upon Prophet ﷺ.

The story of the compilation of the Quraan

In the time of Sayyidina Abu Bakr رضی اللہ عنہ the Muslim army went to fight the false prophet Musailamah (Kazzab). In this battle there were many Huffaz (who learn it by heart) of the Quran as well. however at the end of the battle through the Muslims were victorious, they lost a lot of Huffaz. A sahabi (companion of Prophet ﷺ) came to Sayyidina Abu Bakr رضی اللہ عنہ and said that he was worried that if all the Huffaz were killed then there would be no one left to preserve the Quran. Itwould therefore be best if the Quran was compiled in book form. Sayyidina Abu Bakr رضی اللہ عنہ was given the task of collecting all the pieces of skins and barks upon which the Quran was written and then he compiled the first copy of the Quran in a book form.
