PeaceMaking
Peacemaking between two Muslims who differ among themselves is an act of immense merit. The Holy Quran Says;-
انما المومنون اخوۃ فاصلحوا بین اخویکم و اتقوا اللہ لعلکم ترحمون
and also :-
فاتقوا اللہ واصلحوا ذات بینکم
These verses clearly show how sublime it is to make peace between two Muslims and to try to restore good relations between them. For this purpose one should tell both of them things about each other which may reawaken love and affection between them and remove their misunderstandings. In this connection one can relate even those things which may apparently seem contrary to facts. For example to tell one of the two quarreling parties that the other person prayed for every other Muslim which included his adversary. Our holy Prophet has said the following for such an act:
لیس الکذاب الذی یصلح بین الناس فینمی حیرا او یقول حیرا
” He is not a liar who makes peace between two persons and conveys good thing from one to another or says anything good”
(Saih Bukhari & Muslim)
Another Hadith gives the following Prophetic quotation:-
یعدل بین الاثنین صدقہ
+“To do justice between two persons is (meritorious) like ( giving) Sadaqah”
To create bad blood and enmity among people is a diabolical act and a hadith tells us that nothing is more pleasing to the Devil than creating discord among men. Hadith tells us that Devil regards sowing discord between husband and wife as his greatest achievement. In contrast to thus, trying to make peace and bring about rapprochement between husband and wife is an act of great merit. This should be especially remembered by those who live together, the family quarrels among in-laws which are so common in our society are usually due to ignorance of the basic rules of Islam. If one follows Islamic rules and precepts in letter and spirit his Here and Hereafter shall both be pleasant for him.
